Congratulations, you’ve made it to Week 4 – taking care of your skin and looking after the environment at the same time!

I also wanted to take this time to say thank you for all your feedback. Please remember that no question is a stupid question and we are here for you. Your honest customer feedback helps us learn and implement changes that support us all.

This week you can expect your skin to have settled into a routine and you may notice that if you miss a day, your skin really notices. it’s all about staying motivated now and keeping your skin fearlessly healthy and fighting fit thanks to the healthy habits you’ve formed. But remember, clean beauty is slow beauty. Using natural skincare is a process and your skin will thank you. Our goal is to stay on track and keep the end goal in mind.

We are always so busy and it’s important to be kind to ourselves – to get started follow these six simple steps…

Step one – Be committed

Like the most beautiful ancient cities in the world, good, healthy skin isn’t made in a day, a week or even a month. Choosing Au Natural Skinfood means you’ve committed to using the most effective Manuka honey beauty products so simply stay on your treadmill, be committed and keep up that twice-daily habit for beautiful skin.

Step two – Eat your antioxidants

Antioxidants help, stop or prevent cellular damage that is caused by oxidation. Oxidants are free radicals that are found in our environment but are also produced in our body. Our body creates oxidants to try and fight off viruses and microbes. If we have too many, they can cause inflammation, damage, aging and contribute to more serious diseases. From our environment we also absorb oxidants from air pollution, alcohol, cigarette smoke etc. That’s why eating lots of antioxidant-rich vegetables, such as leafy greens, helps to support the effectiveness of our skincare regime.

Step three – Add an antioxidant-rich eye serum

To stop inflammation around the eyes and crow’s feet, try adding an antioxidant-rich eye serum to your routine. Au Natural’s range from New Zealand includes a nine-berry cocktail eye serum that is deeply moisturizing and helps to restructure the skin around the eyes. Extremely rich in phenolic compounds, it includes acai berries, bilberries, strawberries, cherries, black mulberries, wild blackberries, cranberries, raspberries and lingonberries. Shop Au Natural’s Superfruit Natural Eye Serum.

Step four – Refrigerate it

Keep your Superfruit Eye Serum, in the fridge as the cool temperature of the roller will help eliminate puffiness under the eyes and will stimulate blood circulation and formation of pigment and dark circles.

Step five – Get some feedback

After a month of using our Manuka honey natural products and Au Natural Skinfood’s natural Retinol face oil or Superfruit Eye Serum, you’ll be ready to show your skin off. Why not try adding a little less powder, no translucence or concealer during your regular make-up routine and see what people think and say.

Step six – Expand your repertoire

Now you’ve got a good barrier, you can start to experiment with new ingredients you may not have tried before or add more products to your range. Shop now.

While avocados have exploded in popularity over recent years, becoming an essential ingredient to the perfect weekend brunch, their many and varied health benefits have been recognised for decades. As a source of nutrition, the avocado is known to be high in mono-unsaturated fat, which means that while it is a good source of natural fibre and a healthy alternative to foods that contain saturated fat, it should always be eaten in moderation, and as part of a balanced diet.

The avocado’s high levels of mono-unsaturated fats can also have beneficial effects for the skin, as extracting their omega-rich fatty acids and naturally occurring vitamins in the form of an oil means that they can be incorporated into nourishing skincare products. Unlike many other plant-based oils, the oil is not extracted from the seed or pit of the avocado, but rather by gently cold-pressing the pulp of sun-ripened avocados, which is then mixed over a low temperature to draw out the most beneficial parts of the oil.

Because the oil extracted is naturally rich in fatty acids, and Vitamins A, D and E, it is a highly effective natural moisturiser, retaining and boosting hydration beneath the skins’ surface. Its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties also make NZ avocado oil a good match for skin that is prone to irritations or infections such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis, as it forms a natural protective barrier to promote healing whilst soothing existing problem areas and aiding in the production of new, healthy skin cells, while protecting and fortifying existing cells.

Au Natural Skinfood utilize NZ avocado oil’s healing and preventative qualities by incorporating it as a key ingredient in several our products, including our Remove Gentle Facial Cleanser – Rich in Manuka honey and Avocado oil, which works to improve the health of your skin at a cellular level while also cleansing it of irritants, unclogging pores, and removing makeup naturally.

Dr Au Concentrates Anti-Aging Face Oil No. 1 & and Level 2

Using Retinol isn’t as daunting or confusing as it’s made out to be. Anyone can introduce the use of Retinol to their skincare regime, even if you don’t have a skincare concern as it will help to prevent the formation of lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and blemishes.

Dr Au Concentrates – Anti-Aging Face Oil – No. 1, has entry level Retinol, assisting in the production of healthy elastin and collagen and improving the natural moisturizing properties of the skin.

Dr Au Concentrates – Anti-Aging Face Oil Level 2, is the next step up on our Vitamin A ladder, helping to reduce pigmentation and blemishes whilst preserving our cell walls to combat incoming infection.
I designed these oils to be dry in feeling and they absorb perfectly into the skin, leaving no oily residue.

You can always use this product on its own as an extra boost or you can mix a few drops into your favourite moisturizer for that little extra nourishment. Personally, I love this product when I go camping or when I am travelling and have little space, you can cleanse with it, remove with a warm towel and then re-apply as a moisturizer. Win, Win!

Not recommended for pregnant women and should be used with sun protection.

Pro tips:

1. Use Dr Au Concentrates – Anti-Aging Face Oil to repair and soften cuticles.
2. Use a drop or two of Dr Au Concentrates – Anti-Aging Face Oil to smooth and control fly away hair.

As a recap, our four essentials are: Remove Gentle Facial Cleanser, Prepare Spray on Brightening Lotion (toner), AM Day Serum and PM Night Cream.

Step 1:

Remove Gentle Facial Cleanser – Rich in Manuka Honey & Avocado Oil

When it comes to our Remove Gentle Facial Cleanser, a little goes a long way.

  • Simply squeeze out a bit the size of an almond, add a drop or two of warm water.
  • Warm by rubbing the cleanser in your hands.
  • Apply cleanser to the face neck and decollete. (safe to use around the eye & lip area)
  • Gently massage the cleanser around the area being cleansed.
  • Use a clean warm flannel to compress the skin and then remove the cleanser.
  • I recommend repeating the above step, if you’ve been wearing make-up.

Mindful removal

I sometimes also add a little lemon juice or lemon oil to my warm water. If you have a busy life, then those couple of minutes of mindfulness practicing ‘slow beauty’ really makes a difference to your life.

Step 2:

Prepare Spray On Brightening Lotion (toner) HERO PRODUCT –  Rich in Manuka Honey & Kiwifruit – Antibacterial

  • Either spray directly onto your face or spray a little into clean hands.
  •  Gently pat into your face, neck, decollete, avoiding the eye area.
  • Leave the skin to dry and then apply your favorite moisturizer.

Hydrate well

Our Prepare Brightening Spray On Lotion (toner) helps to tone, tighten and even out the skin.

If you have very dry skin on your arms and legs, then you can use the brightening lotion to spray, rub in and feel soft and hydrated.

Step 3:

AM Day Serum – Rich in Manuka Honey Moisturizer & Ponga Fern Seed (Apply after cleansing and toning).  You only need a small amount as it will spread easily and will deliciously soak into your skin

  • Dot the moisturizer over the area to be treated.
  • As it warms to your skin, gently rub in.

PM Night Cream – Rich in Manuka Honey and Bee Venom Moisturizer (Apply after cleansing and toning).  This is a thick moisturizer designed for night-time replenishment.

  • Dot, night cream on your face, neck and decollete.
  • As it warms to your skin gently massage in, allowing your skin to repair and regenerate whilst you sleep.

Suitable for all skin types

Our Manuka honey moisturizers are suitable for all skin types, focused on strengthening the skin natural barrier function.

Our skin whilst we are all effectively the same, does have its own unique personality just like we do

About our skin…

Our skin is an organ and is as important as our heart or lungs. Our bodies are so clever and aim to repair damage as it happens. However, we rely on being healthy to support our skin and other organs as nature intended. Having healthy skin can be compared to going to the gym. We need to establish healthy habits and daily routines to get the results we desire.

Our skin is the largest organ in our body, performing many vital tasks; it provides a barrier to infection, pathogenic threats and harmful pollution. Despite this, our skin nutrition can often be overlooked and our good intentions to cleanse and fight bad bacteria can go amiss.

Our skin is a microclimate of ‘good bacteria’ necessary to regulate our skin, fight infection and retain moisture.  However, with the increasing use of synthetics, preservatives, parabens and sulphates in traditional skincare, our skin’s natural healing and pH balancing abilities can be dramatically decreased, as good bacteria are stripped, and moisture levels depleted.
