Au Natural Skinfood is the newest and most exciting name in the cosmetics industry. Au is the first brand in the world to deliver a complete skincare range using 100% reusable, compostable or recyclable packaging. This comes seven years ahead of the sustainability pledge made recently by international brands L’Oréal, Unilever, Coca-Cola and Nestle who aim to achieve this by 2025.

So how did Au Natural Skinfood get their name?

If we take you back to third form science, you may remember that Au is the scientific symbol for gold.
In the brand name sense, Au refers to the sticky gold of Active 16+ Manuka Honey that forms the basis of Au Natural’s product range – gold in colour and containing the unique methylglyoxal property which has proven antibacterial results.

The acute accent above the U in Aú Natural originates from a leaf of the manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium) which is native to New Zealand and Australia. Manuka is the Maori word for the Leptospermum scoparium tree.

Au Natural Skinfood's Acute Accent - Name

Au Natural

Originates from the French term au naturel meaning in natural state, without anything added, return to raw form, naked. This represents our philosophy to move away from synthetic cosmetics and back to raw natural botanicals.

This represents Au Natural’s focus on skin health as opposed to beauty. Our products use New Zealand Active 16+ Manuka Honey, NZ Pure Bee Venom and Natural Botanicals to strengthen the skin, allowing the skin to then work as nature intended it to do, strengthening the skins barrier function to better fight day to day environmental damage.

The stronger your skin the better it looks but also the better it functions to work against environmental ageing, like sun damage, pollution and todays work life balance.
