At Au Natural Skinfood we mimic how clever nature is in order to design and deliver you the best skincare possible. New Zealand Pure Bee Venom is a favourite ingredient of ours for its efficacy and gentleness on the skin. It is also a popular ingredient among those wanting visible results for their skin, but not wanting to resort to using chemicals and invasive treatments.

Why choose a product with Bee Venom and how does it work?

Applying New Zealand Pure Bee Venom to the skin tricks our bodies into thinking we have been stung, without pain.  This immediately triggers increased blood flow to the area being treated and stimulates the production of two important naturally-occurring chemicals- collagen and elastin. Collagen works by strengthening our body tissue, while elastin helps the skin to remain tight and firm, bouncing back into shape after being pressed or pinched.

By using Bee Venom on your skin, you are harnessing the effective properties of a bee sting and turning it into gentle and effective skin care. New Zealand Pure Bee Venom not only helps to plump and tighten our skin but it also helps reduce sun damage, pore size, pigmentation, blemishes and it hydrates the skin.

Is it safe for the bees though?

Because bees are so amazing for a number of reasons, we want to make sure we look after them. Unlike other companies that ‘extract’ the venom by crushing the bees, we make sure that they are not harmed in the making of your Au Natural Skinfood product. In fact they are treated like rock stars and given the best environment to live in and thrive off.

They grow and live in an organic apiary in the North Island of New Zealand, where their venom is extracted in total safety, for the workers and for the bees.  A glass sheet is placed into the beehive along with a very weak electrical current running through it. When bees sit on the glass, the weak current encourages them to stick out their stingers and pump out a small amount of venom. This does not remove their stingers or harms them in any way. Due to the pheromones that are released by the bees who stung the glass sheet, other bees in the beehive follow suit.
